Celtic captain Scott Brown has made an intriguing revelation about one of his former Celtic team-mates. When asked about his best friend at the club by Celtic’s YouTube channel, he selected a player who is no longer at the club, but won a host of trophies in his time at Celtic.
That player is Hoops utility man Charlie Mulgrew.
“A bundle of laughs”

“I still speak to Charlie, a bundle of laughs, and great for team spirit” the Hoops skipper said about his one-time team-mate.
It should be remembered that in Neil Lennon’s first title winning season at Celtic manager, Mulgrew played a key role.
He played at left-back for most of that season, and so good were his performances for the Hoops in 2011-12 that he was named as Scotland’s player of the year.
Perhaps surprising he hasn’t returned to club

It is perhaps a bit surprising that Mulgrew wasn’t signed by the Hoops when Neil Lennon returned to the club as Hoops manager.
He was a constant in the Celtic side during Lennon’s first spell as Hoops boss. However, his chances at either left-back or centre-back would have been limited.
Therefore, if he wanted to play regular football, it is better off for the player not to return to Glasgow. He has more chance of regular football at Wigan, his current team.
It is still good to see that Mulgrew is remembered so fondly by one of his former team-mates though. He played a key role in Celtic’s first title of eight in a row, and that should not be forgotten about.
