Diego Laxalt might only have been a Celtic player for just over a week, but he is already impressing Hoops captain Scott Brown, the Daily Record reports.
Brown is already a fan of the player, and of his left foot in particular. He is also impressed with the attitude shown by the player in his brief time with the club.
“Got a great delivery”
“Diego has a wonderful left foot, he’s got a great delivery. He’s fast, he’s got a great attitude and work rate, and he’s come here to continue improving as a player as well” Brown said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Brown is also pleased that Celtic are able to attract players from clubs like Milan, where Laxalt was signed from.
“It’s good that we’re attracting players from the likes of AC Milan and I’m sure there will be people behind the scenes at Milan who have filled him in on Celtic and what we’re all about” he concluded.
Well, Brown’s comments must make exciting reading for the Celtic support. Laxalt has only been training with Celtic for a week, and that is the impression he has made on the Hoops captain. That is a very promising sign for how well Laxalt will perform for the Hoops.
Real expectation to see Laxalt in action now
There will be a real expectation to see Laxalt on the pitch now. Neil Lennon has a decision to make regarding Laxalt and Saturday’s Glasgow derby against Rangers.
It would be a bit of a gamble to feature Laxalt in such a big game. Especially as some of his teammates have been away on international duty. He won’t know those players yet.
However, judging by Brown’s comments Laxalt has been very impressive in training. That could factor into the Hoops manager’s thinking for the game. He may consider that Laxalt is more than capable of replacing Greg Taylor in the side.
Only time will tell on that front. Whoever, it is a promising sign that Brown is so enthused about Laxalt when he has only been at the club for just over a week.
