Scott Brown and Jonny Hayes would return to Celtic as assistants in the event of Robbie Keane being appointed.
Club icon Brown and cult hero Hayes have reportedly been brought forward as potential assistants to the Irishman.
Keane is reportedly Dermot Desmond’s favoured candidate for the role, despite Martin O’Neill’s stellar record in interim charge last season.
If the 45-year-old is brought to the Parkhead dugout, he will be backed up by the presence of Brown and Hayes… and there’s another layer to this story.

Scott Brown and Jonny Hayes confirmed as Robbie Keane allies after Ferencvaros visit
Six weeks ago, Hayes and Keane attended Keane’s Ferencvaros in their semi-final of the Hungarian cup against ETO FC Gyori, to whom they ultimately lost the league title.
In the semi, however, Keane’s side prevailed.

The visit was played down at the time as part of a UEFA Coach Education for the pair, who were due to be in Budapest anyway.
But the widely-reported news of Brown and Hayes’ allyship with Keane’s managerial bid (first called by the Daily Record) certainly indicates that this wasn’t the whole truth.
Speaking on the Not Another Football Podcast with Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly, Brown had claimed: “I was over about two months ago.
“I texted Robbie saying, ‘What’s the chances of me popping over?’, because you have to do a broad experience to go and see the culture and stuff like that at a different club.
“Obviously, everyone’s then trying to put two and two together. [Keane] has done a fantastic job. I played with [Stephen Glass, Keane’s assistant] at Hibs.
“It was a good experience. Good to see how Robbie and Glassy worked as well.”
Hayes is the current manager of Celtic B, filling in for Stephen McManus who was promoted to O’Neill’s interim coaching staff earlier this season.

Robbie Keane to Celtic: his managerial record
Keane is certainly remembered best as a player, and is yet to make his name as a coach at the top level.
His spell managing in Israel is troubling for parts of the Parkhead support, but it clearly isn’t dissuading the club from considering him as a candidate.
