Celtic legend Scott Brown praised two ‘huge’ signings made under Ange Postecoglou – Joe Hart and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Brown has been speaking to the media ahead of his upcoming event with Mikael Lustig as he gets an opportunity to say a proper farewell to the Celtic faithful.
The former Bhoys captain will return to Glasgow in May, but he was quizzed about Ange Postecoglou’s current side yesterday afternoon.
Brown was asked which of the current Celtic players have particularly impressed him over the course of the season.
Of course, he mentioned the obvious candidates as he praised the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Jota. But he feels Hart and Carter-Vickers have been exceptional signings for Postecoglou.
Brown labels Hart and Carter-Vickers as ‘huge’ signings
Speaking to fan media, including 67 Hail Hail, ahead of his event at the Hydro in May, Brown heaped praise on the Celtic duo and said they have been key to Postecoglou’s success at Celtic Park.
“I think Joe Hart has been brilliant as well since coming in and we probably lost Fraser [Forster] and Craig [Gordon],” he said. “We needed a big personality to go in the goals and Joe’s been exceptional, so has Carter-Vickers playing centre half. That’s been two huge signings for Ange. I think the recruitment has been exceptional, the players the manager’s brought in, the way he wants to play and the way he conducts himself as well is exceptional.
“The fans have bought into the way he wants to play. It was hard at the start but changes will take time and he’s implemented them very well, and I’m just delighted that he’s doing so well and the fans are backing him. The lads seem to be enjoying playing because when I watch it, I enjoy watching it as well. And I take a lot from the way they play, I love energy in the team and they seem to have a lot of that.”
The Hoops have certainly benefited from picking up both players from Tottenham. Hart arrived for a £1 million fee, while the club stumped up £6 million to land Carter-Vickers after an impressive loan spell.
It has to be said that both players have been worth every single penny, and more. The duo were among the first set of players to arrive at Celtic Park under Postecoglou and they have become key components of the Australian’s side.
Carter-Vickers has developed into arguably the best central defender in Scotland, while Hart has provided a safe pair of hands between the sticks.
