Scott Brown may be replaceable on the park but his Celtic legacy is likely unmatchable

Scott Brown looks like bringing the curtain down on a glittering Celtic career that will leave behind a legacy forever unmatchable.

Indeed, the Daily Record is reporting that Brown is set to leave the club to become the new Aberdeen assistant manager. The move is expected to be confirmed within the next 48 hours. However, Broony is expected to stay at Celtic until the end of the campaign.

Even so, news of his potential departure has left supporters stunned. Even if it had been reported in the past that he was being courted, it’s still a major shock to hear of him choosing a move to the Granite City over staying at Parkhead.

Regardless, it’s the right decision for him on the pitch. He cannot be guaranteed the same level of minutes as he was given this season. Not with Ismaila Soro breaking through and needing more exposure at this level. We also have the likes of Luca Connell, Kerr McInroy, and Scott Robertson all looking to make their next step in the engine room.

Yet, even if it’s undoubted that Brown can be replaced on the pitch, his legacy is a different story. If what he’s achieved in the modern era of football is ever replicated, we can count ourselves extremely fortuitous.

Scott Brown can be forever proud of his incredible Celtic legacy

At a time when players only use Celtic as stepping stones on to bigger things, Brown bucked that trend. Despite regular interest from the Premier League, Broony decided to stay at Parkhead and create something that would stand the test of time.

And so it did. If Celtic win the Scottish Cup to round-off a dismal season, Brown will be given his 23rd winner’s medal at the club. 10 Scottish Premierships. Six Scottish Cups. Six League Cups. Incredible and likely unmatchable.

Not to mention the fact that Brown has grown so much too. He’s no longer the petulant yet enthusiastic boy we signed from Hibs back in 2007. He’s blossomed into the king of Scottish football. The master of mind-games and the definition of composure.

When you look at the bigger picture, this is a story that just won’t ever be repeated. What Brown has done for this football club is outrageous and won’t ever be appreciated to its full extent until he’s gone.

And as supporters reflected on Brown’s potential departure, they only had positive remarks to make about the club legend:
