Former Celtic captain Scott Brown has set the tone for the derby weekend with a not so subtle dig at Rangers.
Brown will be an interested on-looker on Sunday as Ange Postecoglou‘s side aim to make it to the Scottish Cup final.
Celtic have won more trophies than the Ibrox side in ten of the last 11 seasons, with this campaign heading the same way.
The one season where Rangers had the bragging rights was back in 2020/21 when no fans were at games during the pandemic.
Clearly up for a bit of fun on The Go Radio Football Show, Brown was happy to bring up the lack of bottle at Ibrox.
“Scotland’s top-flight is relentless,” he said. “Especially in Glasgow. Celtic, Rangers, You’ve got to make sure that you keep winning.
“There’s a lot of players that come and can’t do that. Fantastic footballers but they don’t understand what it takes to be a Celtic player.
“If you don’t win, it’s 60,000 fans on top of you. If you win, it’s 60,000 fans absolutely loving you. A lot of players struggle under the pressure. And a lot of players, especially when Covid came, shall we say another team did very well when there was no pressure.”
It’s actually amusing to hear Brown make such an obvious and direct dig at those in Govan.
It clearly shows what he thinks of the bottle of the likes of James Tavernier and Connor Goldson amid years of Celtic dominance.
Unluckily for the Ibrox side, Hampden Park will be full of people on Sunday.
Celtic fell short at this stage last season. If we can come out on top this time then the treble will be in touching distance.
