Scott Brown ‘spoke’ to Celtic about backroom role

Whenever anyone mentions Scott Brown I immediately think about that moment in Pittodrie.

You know the one. Where he shirks off challenges from three Aberdeen players and then Shay Logan rather sneakily blasts the ball off his back when he was down.

Broony just got up, gave his wee jig and then got on with the game.

For me, that’s as iconic as the El Hajdi Diouf moment at Ibrox.

Brown is a class act and it was these moments that showed you just how much he loved the club and what pulling on that jersey meant to him.

The memories he gave us during his time at Celtic will never be forgotten.

The now Fleetwood gaffer is still held in high regard by not only the fans, but also the club.

Brown is now enjoying life in the English lower leagues cutting his teeth in management and when asked if he had spoken to the club about a possible role after his retirement from playing, Brown admitted to Sky Sports via Football Scotland, “Yeah I spoke to Celtic.

I spoke to a few other people as well but I will always have that love for Celtic and watch the games on tele – that’ll never die.

“To have the opportunity to speak to them… I will always speak to Celtic and I still do speak to Celtic.

Brown will be a perfect fit for Celtic one day. But I don’t think now would have been the right time.

Think about it. If you are Callum McGregor and you are taking over the captaincy with Scott Brown still in the building, I would imagine it would be pretty difficult to put your own stamp on the role with the predecessor still hanging around.

I think Brown will eventually find his way home to Celtic.

I genuinely believe that if he keeps progressing his coaching career the way it has been going this season, he will eventually earn the right to manage this great club.

And when that day comes, I am sure there will be many more great ‘Broony’ memories to come.
