One Celtic player had already caught the attention of Patryk Klimala before he left Jagiellonia Białystok to join the Hoops in a £3.5 million deal.
That player was Hoops captain Scott Brown. Klimala revealed that his teammates in Poland had watched videos of Brown’s challenges on the internet prior to his move to Scotland.
“When I told my Jagiellonia team-mates that I was coming to Celtic, there was a lot of talk in the changing room about it” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“They warned me”
“Some of the players showed me some clips of Scott and how aggressive his tackles were. They warned me and asked if I was sure what I was doing. Thankfully I was in his team in training, so he hasn’t tackled me yet!”
Brown’s reputation as a hard challenging player seems to proceed him. It is telling that Klimala’s former teammates knew all about his style of play.
Therefore, Klimala will be pleased that he is on the same side as the Hoops captain. You have to imagine that Brown will play a big part in ensuring that Klimala and any other new signing hit the ground running at Celtic.
That is one of the many jobs that Brown will have in his role as Celtic captain. He will be a leader off the pitch as well as on it.
One of the most important Hoops players of last decade
Brown is one of Celtic’s most important players of the last 10 years. When you look back at the decade of success that the Hoops have had, Brown features heavily in that.
That shows you just how important a player Brown has been, even when the Hoops haven’t been at their best, Brown has grabbed them by the neck and dragged the team to yet more glory.
Hopefully he and Klimala will enjoy more success at Celtic in the next few months.
