Scott McDonald is eyeing sacked Jose Mourinho to Celtic

Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald has brought up the idea of Jose Mourinho to the Bhoys on Twitter this morning.

The Telegraph report that Tottenham Hotspur have sacked their head coach after an underwhelming season in the English Premier League.

Spurs currently sit in seventh position.

Celtic are, of course,  on the hunt for a new manager after Neil Lennon resigned from the club earlier this season.

McDonald, currently at Australian side Brisbane Roar, took to social media this morning to kick-off the inevitable Mourinho to Celtic chat.

Jose Mourinho has been linked to Celtic before

You may remember that Mourinho was actually linked with the Celtic job back in 2019.

Prominent Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reported in May 2019 that Mourinho was offered the job and was contemplating the offer.

Do I think this is going to happen? Absolutely not. However, this will likely shake up the Celtic rumour mill as the Eddie Howe speculation rumbles on.

Any available big-name manager is going to be discussed by Celtic supporters.

The jury is out on whether Mourinho would be a good fit for the Bhoys. There’s no doubt he is an elite manager, but could he fit into a proposed new footballing structure? Is he ‘past it’?

Not to mention plenty of Celtic fans haven’t forgiven him for his team’s tactics in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

An interesting thought experiment, though.

In other news, Pat Bonner wants a complete overhaul at Celtic, including Kennedy.
