Celtic youngster Scott Robertson, on loan at Crewe, has made a promising claim about his development in England.

The talented, creative midfielder looked good value to get into the Celtic squad this season. Instead, with a kind word from Ange Postecoglou, he’s been sent out for another spell in the EFL.

Robertson, who has been bothered by repeated injury and fitness issues, now says he’s fine playing multiple fixtures over a short spell. With the endorsement and trust of manager David Artell, Robertson has been a regular for Crewe.

One of his side’s better performers this season [WhoScored?], Robertson has played in a team that has suffered some bad results. A 4-0 drubbing from Sunderland yesterday followed a 3-0 loss to Fleetwood Town.

However, results aside, Robertson is feeling the difference of regular first-team action.

He said [CAFC]:

“On a personal level it has gone well for me and I’ve loved it. Everyone has been really welcoming and I have enjoyed playing regularly. I have had nine 90 minutes under my belt, so that is only going to benefit me going forward.

“My body has adjusted to the three games a week and hopefully as a team we can show the real us over the next couple of months.”

Scott Robertson, on loan with Crewe, could be primed to make a Celtic impact next season

A remarkably cultured midfielder for his age, 20-year-old Scott Robertson looks a real talent.

Certainly, there are shades of Callum McGregor’s breakthrough. Rather than being a converted winger like McGregor though, Robertson has always played deep in midfield.

A playmaker in the purest sense, with decent energy shuttling up and down the pitch, there’s always been real hope for the Scotsman at Celtic.

Fine, results might not be amazing at Crewe.

But that won’t bother any Celtic supporters. Especially if it means a talent like Robertson can mature and progress to an extent where he can contribute for us.

He sounds like he has the right attitude, and always has. Now, he’s fully physically ready fo the demands of professional football. These might be comments worth remembering.
