Scott Robertson not ruling out Celtic loan exit

Celtic youngster Scott Robertson has not ruled out making a loan move away from the club this season, the Celtic View reports.

Robertson has not featured for the Hoops so far this season. However, he is in Neil Lennon’s plans, as he was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.

Despite that, Robertson will consider a loan move away from Celtic if he and Lennon believe that it is the best thing for the player.

“Really benefited from loan spells”

“Players like Kris Ajer, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor have really benefited from loan spells, so it’s something I’d always be open to if the situation came about” Robertson said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 4, Page. 24).

“If the right club’s there and the manager wants me to go out on loan and get experience, then I don’t see why not.”

Robertson’s eagerness to play football, even if it is not for Celtic in the short term, can only be considered as a good thing.

He will be keen on more football after starting against Cluj in the Europa League last season. If that is not going to happen at Celtic, then as he says, a loan move could be a good idea.

Won’t be easy to break into side

It won’t be easy for Robertson to break into the first-team this season. Celtic have so many midfielders at the club.

Therefore, a loan move to a team in the Scottish Premiership might well be the ideal option. A team like Motherwell or Hibs would be a good option.

Better to move to a team who will most likely be in the top six than a side that will be battling against relegation. As Robertson says, some mainstays of the current Celtic side have benefited from a loan move away from the club. That seemed to kickstart their career.

Only time will tell if the same thing happens to Robertson. However, if the right move comes up, then he and Neil Lennon will have some talking to do.
