It was bit unexpected to see Scott Sinclair on the bench for Celtic against Rangers on Sunday. He has been a mainstay for the Hoops this season. But his performance in the second-half against Rangers showed why he didn’t start the game.
Sinclair replaced Jonny Hayes at half-time of Celtic’s 2-1 victory. Unfortunately, his main contribution to the match was missing a great chance to put Celtic two nil up early in the second-half.
Confidence went down
After that miss, his confidence seemed to go down, and he didn’t do much in the game.
It will be interesting to see if Sinclair starts for the Hoops against St Mirren on Wednesday night. If he does, it could be because of the current injury crisis at the club.
A concern for the player
It must be a tad concerning for Sinclair that he was left out of the starting line-up for one of the biggest games the Hoops have left this season.
Does that indicate that his future lies away from Celtic Park? It’s too early to tell. He does have a year left on his current deal, and Neil Lennon confirmed that the club are in talks with Sinclair about a new contract.
However, the player will be disappointed with his second-half performance. He had a real chance to show that he is indispensable to the team, and he failed to take it.
