Former Celtic star Scott Sinclair can’t wait to play in front of Bhoys supporters today when he takes to the pitch with Preston North End.
Sinclair was a multiple-trophy winning hero at Celtic. He was especially impressive during the historic Invincible Treble season in 2016/17.
In total, he scored 62 goals and assisted 34 more in 167 club appearances.
The attacker left Celtic in January 2020 without really getting a proper send-off.
Now he’ll have the chance to connect with some of the support again in today’s friendly.
Speaking to the official Preston North End website, he said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It seems like a long time since I’ve left and haven’t been back since so it’s always great to go back and play at Celtic Park.
“Obviously there’s 2,000 fans, it would have been better to have more but it will be great to see some fans as well.
“I’ve got so many memories of being at Celtic at that time, making so many achievements and winning titles, so that’s always going to be part of me.
“Going back there is a great opportunity because it wouldn’t have normally happened other than a pre-season game.”
Sinclair hasn’t been quite as prolific for Preston as he was for Celtic, but with nine goals and five assists in the Championship last season is still contributing effectively.
First and foremost he’ll be looking to build his fitness and match sharpness ahead of the Lilywhites’ season-opener against Hull City on August 7th.
Hopefully, it’s a smashing day for everyone in attendance. This time though, fingers crossed that Sinclair is on the losing side.
