Scott Sinclair’s future was always going to go one way if you left it with the man himself.
Celtic’s 60-goal winger extended his deal with the club back at the start of May (BBC). The deal saw the Englishman stay for a further year after the club decided to trigger a clause in his contract.
That means that Sinclair’s contract is now set to expire next summer, as opposed to after the cup final. It ties up his immediate future, but question marks will be going out again in January when the former Manchester City man is free to talk to other clubs.

But that was never on the agenda for him this year at least. Speaking at his Scottish Cup final presser via Celtic TV, Sinclair stated that he always wanted to stay put in Glasgow.
“I’ve always wanted to stay. I think everyone knows my situation and how I love this club and want to be here. I love the fans and playing for Celtic. Games like this (Scottish Cup final) and playing in cup finals – there’s nothing better.
“Obviously I was delighted. Obviously, I’m here for another year and I’m looking forward to it.
“I’m very relaxed (for Saturday). Whatever the team is, whatever the manager chooses – that’s up to him. But I’m very relaxed going into the game, and I’m sure everyone else is because we’ve been there before.”
You can’t fault Sinclair’s commitment
Sinclair’s love and commitment to Celtic certainly can’t be faulted. Even our writers including myself at 67HailHail have spoken about Sinclair’s poor performances this season. We stand by what we’ve said too. But nobody can say he doesn’t try his best at Parkhead.

It’s difficult to know what the winger has been suffering from. He’s never truly hit the heights since Neil Lennon came to the club, despite playing 11 of 13 fixtures under him.
Sinclair was finding a bit of form before Brendan Rodgers departed. He actually managed eight goals in the first nine domestic games post-Winter break. But once Rodgers left for Leicester, he went back into the slump he had in the first half of the season.

One potential train of thought was that the club gave Sinclair a new deal to try and sell him in the summer. But Sinclair’s words don’t scream of a man who sounds for the off this year.
But if he does stay in Glasgow, he has to find some improvement in his displays next season. Perhaps a positive display in the Scottish Cup final would be the perfect tonic for him.
