Sead Haksabanovic has insisted there are more ‘levels’ to come from him over the coming weeks and months despite a promising start to his Celtic career.
Haksabanovic has caught the eye of many supporters in his 12 appearances to date this season, six of which have come from the start of matches.
His touch, dribbling ability, versatility and combinations with teammates have all added a potent threat to the Bhoys attack, despite a lack of goals and assists.
Now, the Montenegro international is aiming to increase his output, telling media today [Celtic YouTube]: “I’m very happy to have the chance to play in front of the fans, for this club, everything. I’m here, I’m here to take my chance.
“I’m not 100% fully fit yet. I still have some levels to give. Hopefully, I can start helping the team with some assists and some goals. I’m playing well right now – I’m just going to continue to do that and score some goals as well.
“The way he [Ange Postecoglou] plays is perfect for me. I’m still new here, I still have a little bit of time to feel 100% in the team and 100% fit. I feel that they have my back and are there for me and fully believe in me. It feels good.”
Haksabanovic’s arrival at the Bhoys almost went under the radar towards the end of August, with all the focus on Celtic’s Champions League draw at the time.
It’s easy to forget he’s signed up on a five-year deal with the club, so we’re only potentially scratching the surface of what he might offer over the piece.
He clearly thinks that better form is around the corner as he gets used to his teammates, Scottish football and ups his fitness.
Hopefully, Sunday against Livingston is the start of a new period of improvement for the attacker.
