We continue our season review of Celtic’s players with a look at Celtic number 22 Odsonne Edouard’s season.
It was certainly a gamble from Celtic when they made Odsonne Edouard their record signing last summer. However, the move has turned out to be a huge success for the Hoops.
Edouard has replaced Moussa Dembele as the Hoops’ number one striker and rewarded the club with 22 goals.

Massively important goals
Edouard also managed to score some massively important goals for the Hoops. The winner against RB Leipzig, the opening goal in the 2-1 win over Rangers to name but two.
The most important goal of them all of course was the winning goal in the Scottish Cup Final. Edouard’s cool finish against Hearts sealed the ‘treble treble’ and Celtic’s ninth domestic trophy in a row.

Edouard had to do a lot on his own last season. The absence of Leigh Griffiths meant that for a lot of the season he was the only natural striker available at the club.
Deserves a break after difficult season
Hopefully another striker will be added to the squad next season, which would allow Edouard a break when he requires one.

However, should it be up to Edouard to be the main scorer again then he has already shown he is capable of doing the job for the Hoops.
Next season he should be aiming to score 30 goals. If he stays injury-free, Edouard can reach that target. He is more than good enough.
