We continue our season review of the Celtic players of 2018-19, this time we look at how Celtic’s number 10 Vakoun Issouf Bayo fared.
Celtic’s January transfer business didn’t seem to inspire much confidence in the Hoops support. It was mostly a lot of loan deals, with one exception.
Arrived with a good record

Celtic signed Vakoun Issouf Bayo from Dunajská Streda on a four-year contract. The player arrived at the club after scoring 18 goals in Slovakia.
That is a good record. Unfortunately though, we have seen very little of him in a Celtic jersey. He has made only one appearance so far. That came as a late substitute in a 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Few chances due to injury
After that came the departure of the man who signed Bayo, Brendan Rodgers. Sadly he has not yet had a chance to impress Neil Lennon, as he suffered a ruptured hamstring and missed the rest of the season.

Due to his lack of game time and injury, it is hard to judge Bayo’s time at the club so far.
On the plus side, he has scored for the reserves. But Celtic won’t find out how good a player he is until he gets a run of games in the side.
Neil Lennon will hope that Bayo is a more than capable player for the club. Celtic are in need of strikers. Pre-season and the upcoming friendlies could tell us more about Bayo’s future at the club.
