We continue our look back at season 2018/19 with a review of Celtic’s number 30, Timothy Weah.
Timothy Weah might not been at Celtic for long, but he certainly made an impact in his time with the club.
He was signed in January on loan from PSG, in what was seen as a bit of a coup. He immediately impressed, scoring on his debut against Airdrieonians.

Impressed when called upon
Weah was unable to hold down a regular role in the team, but usually impressed when called upon. His best performance was against St Johnstone, where he came on and changed the game. He set up the opening goal for James Forrest, and scored the second after a lightning quick breakaway.

Unfortunately, any thoughts of the Hoops extending his loan deal for another year came to a sharp halt. He left the club before the end of the season after being picked for the United States under-20 World Cup squad.
Looks to have bright future in the game

Reportedly the player wanted to play for his country rather than in the Scottish Cup Final. It is a pity a deal couldn’t be arranged to keep the player at the club. He certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
Indeed, Lille are interested in signing Weah, but PSG reportedly want at least €10 million for the player. That shows that they rate him highly.
Should he go on to have a great career, Celtic fans will look back on his spell at Celtic with a tinge of regret.
