We continue our season review of Celtic’s squad in 2018/19 with a look at Celtic’s number 49 James Forrest.

What is there to say about James Forrest’s season? It has to go down as the best of his career so far. He was a hugely important player for the Hoops, scoring 18 goals and hitting 20 assists.

He scored the winning goal in a Glasgow derby, and won almost any player of the year award that it was possible to win.

When Forrest played well, Celtic played well, and that shows how important he is to the team. One moment in particular stands out.

The cross was of such pinpoint accuracy that Sinclair had the easiest task in the world to put the ball in the back of the net.

A goal for next season

Forrest will no doubt look to continue his rich vein of form going into next season. Perhaps a goal could be 20 goals and 20 assists in a season.

There is no doubt that Forrest will be one of the players that Neil Lennon will be relying on to fire the Hoops to nine in a row next season.

Should he have as productive a season as he did in 2018/19, then Forrest could be a massively influential figure once more.
