New Celtic hero Shane Duffy is not contemplating his future at the club, as he is only focussing on this season and helping the Hoops win 10 in a row, the Daily Record reports.

Duffy has become an instant idol with the Hoops support since signing on loan from Brighton. He has scored two goals in two games. Duffy looks set to be a vital player for Celtic in this season’s campaign.

No doubt fans would love him to commit to the club long-term. However, Duffy isn’t even thinking about that. He does concede though, that if things go well for him at Celtic, Brighton and the Hoops could have discussions at the end of the season.

“It goes from there”

“I’m not sure where it stands at the minute. I’m just really focused on being here for this year and when the season is over, if it has been successful, the two clubs have to sit down and talk to each other. It goes from there” Duffy said, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“But I have to just really focus on this season and enjoy it and try to be successful here” he concluded.

It is still very early days in Duffy’s Celtic career for him to be asked about his future at the club. However, that is always going to happen. Especially after the great start he has had at the club.

Duffy is right to want to concentrate on this season though, and not to look too far ahead. This season is Celtic’s most important in many years, with 10 in a row on the line.

100% concentration on matters on the pitch

There should not be any distractions put on the team. It should be 100% focus on getting the job done on the pitch.

Therefore, it is good to see that Duffy is only concentrating on what Celtic do on the park. The time for discussing Duffy’s future will be at the end of the season. Moreover, the Celtic board will be the men in charge of that.

For Duffy, it has to be all about Livingston on Saturday and helping the Hoops go top of the league. Hopefully he can add another goal to his impressive tally.

In other news, James Forrest feels that Celtic are gradually improving game by game.
