Sheffield Wednesday have issued a statement to Celtic over the signing of Liam Shaw.

In the statement, on the Owls’ official website, Wednesday confirmed the pre-contract deal taking Shaw to Celtic. They then added that they are “considering any further steps” over the deal, with the implication being a Tribunal. The Owls claimed that a joint statement by both clubs had been confirmed, but that Celtic had stopped communicating.

It’s an odd state of affairs for what should be a straight-forward issue. However, with Sheffield Wednesday ostensibly threatening Celtic with legal action, it’s a story that will undoubtedly rumble on.

However, the press release did little to placate Sheffield Wednesday supporters. Instead of being angry with Celtic, it became immediately obvious that the ire is reserved for chairman Dejphon Chansiri. With Wednesday edging towards relegation into League One [EFL], it’s fair to say fans have more pressing concerns.
