Sean Gannon, the man-of-the-match in Shelbourne’s friendly draw with Celtic, has gone viral… for being presented with a chainsaw.
Gannon was pictured with the extremely bizarre award after the game.
A game that was goalless until the very end then somehow finished 1-1, as Harry Wood’s late penalty was immediately pegged back by Shin Yamada’s own spot-kick.
But the most talked-about moment from the match came soon after, as the club presented the 34-year-old defender with his award.

Sean Gannon presented with chainsaw after MOTM award vs Celtic
Chadwicks posted on X (Twitter): “We were delighted to present Sean Gannon with the Man of the Match award yesterday evening…
“After Shelbourne’s 1-1 draw with Celtic, with a late Celtic goal denying Shels the win.

“Presenting the brand-new chainsaw to the MOTM was our own Sean Duggan from the Chadwicks marketing team.
“Congratulations, Sean!”
Among the replies are “He came, he saw, he conquered” and “Sawn Gannon.” Patter absolutely flowing.
It was Celtic’s first official outing of the 2026-27 pre-season, though Martin O’Neill did reveal a bounce game against Partick Thistle a few days prior.
8,000 were in attendance at Tolka Park in the Irish capital of Dublin, including Celtic’s controlling shareholder Dermot Desmond, who made a rare appearance in the stands.
Before the game, O’Neill also confirmed the status of Camilo Duran, who is now expected to join the Hoops squad after a medical.
We could get our first sight of Duran in Hoops next Tuesday, as the Celts travel to the Algarve to face Sporting CP in a rematch of a pre-season friendly last year.

Martin O’Neill on friendlies vs Shelbourne and Partick Thistle
Speaking after the game, O’Neill said. “The run out [vs Shelbourne] was important for us as much as anything else, obviously changed the side round at half time so it was good.
“We had a bit of a bounce game against Partick Thistle, which was good for us as well too.
“Up at our training ground a few days ago and here this is a good workout for us.
“It gives me a chance under more strenuous circumstances to look at some of the younger players and an opportunity for our lads, the senior boys, to try and get fit.”
