Sheyi Ojo not backing down over Celtic boast
Sheyi Ojo’s boast regarding Rangers being better than Celtic has been reinforced by the player once again.
The winger claimed back in July that his side were better than the Hoops. That was despite the fact Rangers won nothing last season and watched on as Celtic won a historic treble-treble.
Celtic, this season, have already beaten Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox. It was as comfortable a win as we’ve had against them in some time too. Neil Lennon’s men top the Premiership table by a point, and are flying in all competitions they’re competing in.
However, speaking in comments picked up by the Daily Record, Ojo once again decided to back his original claim.
“I stand by what I said and I think Rangers are on a good run of form. We are doing really well so far this season and we are looking hungry.
“It can only be a positive for any team that looks hungry and is getting wins. Of course we have to give Celtic respect but, from my own opinion, I believe we can have a really successful season.
“We don’t really worry about the other teams around us. We have just got to keep doing what we are doing and keep getting the results and hopefully we can have a successful season.”
Ibrox beaks could do with keeping a lid on Ojo
This is fine to come out with if your team have proved in the past that they’re the best side in the country. As it currently stands, Ojo’s side has done nothing to warrant that tag.
Rangers could really do with keeping a lid on this kind of talk too. It’s the kind of arrogance that’s seen them eat humble pie time and time again in the past. Celtic continue to dominate Scottish football, but so many across the city like to pretend that’s not the case.
Ojo and his team-mates had the chance to prove they were better than us last month. Unfortunately for them, they made a colossal mess of it. Whether it was down to freezing in the atmosphere or just not being good enough, they failed to produce.
Celtic have continuously got results when it’s mattered this season. They’re flying under Neil Lennon, and whilst Rangers have bounced back from their derby defeat well, they still haven’t been as good as Celtic.
With a bit of luck, Lenny is keeping these newspaper clippings and showing his side on a regular basis. We’re under no illusions about how much our rivals have improved. However, from the other side, they don’t seem to want to accept how good we are.
Talk like this from Ojo is golden. And ultimately, it’ll be their downfall.
