Former Celtic midfielder Si Ferry reckons that Neil Lennon’s side looked “like a Brendan Rodgers team” during their two most recent derby matches against Rangers.
Celtic may have won seven trophies from seven under the Northern Irishman, and dished out a few derby thrashings too, but Open Goal stalwart Ferry wasn’t meaning the comment as a accolade for the Hoops.
“It looked like a Brendan Rodgers team again, the last two games,” Ferry said on the Keeping the Ball on the Ground Podcast.

“Rangers’ centre-halves hardly touched the ball whereas Celtic’s touched the ball more than anybody.
“It’s safe and easy to play against. When you think of Goldson and Katic that played, and Edouard is dropping to the halfway line to get the ball.
“For a centre-half that is easy. Imagine Griffiths coming on and running in behind.”

Ferry makes a good point about the slow football Celtic played
Ferry knows the game pretty well from his time playing and often speaks sense from a tactical point of view.
Our two recent performances against Rangers had very little of Neil Lennon about them.
The displays were timid, lacklustre and laboured and the Ibrox side were the better team in both – as much as it pains us to say it.
Maybe Lennon needs to get a bit of his identity back into these matches. There was very little lacking when we won at Ibrox back in September, but we had a point to prove at that stage.
From the kick-off we were in the faces of our rivals and showed them who was boss, allowing our quality to shine through.

Perhaps Lennon does have to change things up the next time we face the Gers.
Should we give them a pacey option to worry about up front as well as Edouard? Do we need a number ten in such a frantic match?
These kind of questions will all be going round Lennon’s head I’m sure.
But for now we need to focus on the big games coming up before our trip to Ibrox.
