Celtic fans were left impressed with Ryan Porteous during today’s Scottish Premiership draw between Hibernian and Rangers, with some suggesting the club should be looking to sign him.

Porteous was one of the Hibs players who helped secure a 2-2 result at Easter Road, as Steven Gerrard’s again dropped points in a pressure game.

It was an entertaining 90 minutes in Edinburgh, with both teams attacking well and getting stuck into challenges.

Scotland U21 international Porteous had an intriguing battle with striker Alfredo Morelos, also clashing with James Tavernier throughout.

At full-time, there looked to be a bit of arguing amongst the players and Steven Gerrard wasn’t happy with Porteous’ conduct.

As quoted by PLZ Soccer, he said: “Porteous was saying Tav is a bad loser which is a bit cheap coming from him. He got sent off for a real bad tackle when he was losing 3-0 here last year. I don’t agree with that or the argument.”

Could you imagine the outcry if Celtic dropped points and Neil Lennon came out in his post-match interview to whine about Scott Brown being offended at something a 21-year-old has said to him on the pitch?

It simply wouldn’t happen but I’d be embarrassed if it did.

Porteous has clearly got into the heads of the Rangers camp in a very amusing way.

That in itself isn’t worthy of a move to Celtic but the Hibs man is an emerging talent in the top-flight and worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses.

He’s made 56 appearances for his club, scoring 7 goals, and has already been called up to Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad after good progress at youth international level.

He’ll be out to foil the Bhoys next week when Hibs visit Celtic Park and probably won’t be quite as popular with Hoops fans.

These supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the player this afternoon…
