Former Celtic attacker Simon Donnelly believes Odsonne Edouard can become an even better player than Moussa Dembele.

Dembele was a huge success for Celtic before leaving for Lyon at the start of the season. Edouard has taken his place in the side, and has 18 goals for the season.

Donnelly believes Edouard has all the tools available to better Dembele.

“Somebody said to me that he thought Odsonne would be better than Dembele after he scored his three goals in two games against Rangers at the turn of last year” he told the Daily Record.

“Looking at it now, there’s no reason why that can’t be the case. He’s got power, he’s got pace, and he’s got that little bit about him to score important goals.”

Scores important goals

Edouard’s latest important goal was the last minute winner over Dundee which put the Hoops 10 points clear at the top of the league table.

It is too early to tell if Edouard can better Dembele as a player. At the moment, you would have to say that Dembele is still the better of the two players. Edouard does have time on his side to improve though.

Celtic fans will be hoping that he does that improving in Glasgow, and that he doesn’t leave after only a few years at the club, like Dembele did. Thankfully, Edouard seems happy at the Hoops and will hopefully be at the club for a while yet.
