Luke McCowan is settling into life at Celtic after joining the Bhoys from Dundee last week in a late deadline day switch.
The 26-year-old made his debut last weekend against Rangers and admitted that despite a whirlwind few days, reaching the milestone of playing for his boyhood club was the ‘stuff of dreams’ post-match.
He stated: “Amazing, the stuff of dreams, really; if you could tell me as a kid that I’m going to come on in a game of that magnitude, I wouldn’t have believed you.
“It’s an amazing achievement for me and my family, but more importantly, it’s three points for the team, and I can get time for recovery and stuff now; it’s amazing.”
McCowan’s main focus now will be working hard at Lennoxtown to try to force his way into Brendan Rodgers’s mind once the international break concludes.

Celtic have a busy fixture schedule, so he will likely gain opportunities to shine in green and white. Should they fall his way, Dundee striker Simon Murray is confident his former teammate will be able to thrive under the pressure.
Simon Murray says Luke McCowan will ‘surprise’ people at Celtic
Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Murray believes McCowan will ‘surprise a lot of people’ at Celtic and has paid tribute to McCowan’s professionalism at Dens Park despite speculation over his future during the summer.
Murray stated: “He done amazing for Dundee. Obviously, there has been speculation for a few weeks, but honestly he just done the same things that he’s always done in here. He was totally professional and gave his all for the club up until the moment he left.
“That’s all you can ask for. Everyone here wishes him all the best, and I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people with what he can bring to that team, and I look forward to seeing what he can do.”
Later, he added when asked if he has the personality to step into the Celtic side: “Definitely, he’s a Celtic fan, you can see with the photos (when he arrived), he was absolutely buzzing.
“That’s one thing for sure: he’s going to give 100%, and I can see him just kicking on from now, being in a big squad, playing in the Champions League, there’s so many good opportunities for him.”
The floor is there for Luke McCowan to shine at Celtic
Enjoying a tidy debut against Rangers, where he didn’t put a foot out of line, McCowan gave Celtic supporters an indication of what he can offer in the engine room going forward.
Last term, he scored ten times in the Scottish Premiership. He continued into 2024/25 with three goals and six assists in eight appearances for Dundee across all competitions, so there is scope for him to hit the ground running.
Ultimately, the former Dundee captain must earn his place in the starting line-up amid vast competition for midfield places. He has already landed in the building due to his grit and determination; you wouldn’t put it past McCowan taking things one step further.
