Sky pundit thinks Celtic staff will look at star man being targeted by the opposition

It has been pretty clear for a while now that there are issues in Joe Hart’s game after Celtic conceded some questionable goals.

Previously against Motherwell, which in the end, cost Celtic points and against St Johnstone on Sunday.

Thankfully, the team turned up in the second-half in Perth and showcased why they are champions of Scotland.

But as Mark Wilson highlighted, opposition teams are now targeting Joe Hart and his inability to deal with corners, as he told Sky Sports Football (03/12/23 at 2:10 pm).

As a result of it, Mark Wilson thinks Stevie Woods and the Celtic staff are going to look at that issue going forward because it is glaringly obvious what is going on here.

When that ball is whipped into the danger area, the former England international just doesn’t feel comfortable or natural to come out and collect the ball, or even punch it away.

Yes, the 36-year-old needs help from his teammates, because it would help if they were to clear it away, but it’s something to work on moving forward.

Joe Hart’s issues from corners

“You see St Johnstone knowing where to put bodies and make it difficult for Joe Hart,” said Wilson.

“It’s not the first time it has happened this season. He gets himself involved, not just with his own defender, but the St Johnstone attacker and he just can’t get to the ball.

“Joe Hart has to be much stronger. He has allowed himself to be taken into the back of the net there because he has too many bodies in front of him.

“I just wonder if Stevie Woods and the Celtic staff will look at that going forward because teams are obviously targeting it.”

Celtic vs Hibernian

Another game for Brendan Rodgers and the team to continue the dominance at the top of the tree.

Nick Montgomery, who was appointed Hibs manager in September, has made a very good start to proceedings and hasn’t been beaten since September, including a 2-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend.

This isn’t going to be an easy game, at all, for the Bhoys, with the possibility that Rodgers rotates because of the busy festive period.

Players like Mikey Johnston have impressed very much and probably now deserve a shot at starting, so don’t be surprised if there is some form of rotation on Wednesday night.
