Sky Sports pundit James McFadden believes Celtic are only going to get even better this season after making a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign.

And the former Motherwell man has insisted that a key player in Celtic’s strong start, Jota, is, without doubt, the best player in the country.

The Hoops kicked off the season, picking up nine points from their first three games against Aberdeen, Ross County and Kilmarnock.

In each of their three outings so far, Ange Postecoglou’s side has produced a brilliant attacking display, continuing as they left off from lifting the title in May.

McFadden is one man who has been left impressed by the Bhoys early form and performances, and he believes that the levels this Celtic squad are producing will only get better as the season goes on.

He said [Sky Sports]: “They’ve been excellent. I think it was always going to be the case; the manager came in just over a year ago, and he had a sticky start to the season.

“Obviously, winning the league was fantastic, the manner in which they did it, the football they played was excellent, and you felt that once he got another pre-season with a more settled squad, they would kick on again.

“And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Some of their football has been absolutely sensational, and it’s no surprise; I think they will get better as well.

“They’ve got off to a fantastic start, and it shows everybody else that they aren’t going to give up their title easily.”

During the opening three weekends of the season, there has been debate arising surrounding who is currently the best player in Scottish Football.

Some pundits have made the case that Celtic winger Jota is currently at the top after making an outstanding start, picking up five goal contributions in his three appearances.

James McFadden added his input into the debate, insisting that ‘without doubt’, the Portuguese under-21 internationalist is currently the best performer in the Scottish Premiership.

He said: “If you look at his form now, he is, without doubt, the best performer, he’s the best player in the league, and I think he is a better player than last season.

“Sometimes you get players that come in on loan, and they put themselves in the shop window or more often than not, it’s to go back to their parent club and try have an impact.

“But sometimes it to come to the attention of others and put yourself in the shop window. So, for Celtic to get that done permanently, I think that’s fantastic business.

“Around £7 million is an absolute bargain because he looks like he’s a better player from last season. I think he’s settled and obviously made the decision to sign for Celtic permanently.

“And the way he is playing, he’s so unpredictable. He can go left or go right; he creates chances, he scores goals. He is just such an important player.”

Form of Celtic and Jota will be frightening opposition teams.

With the form that both Celtic and Jota have kicked the season off in, teams from across the country will be fearing what they are going to come up against when facing Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Not only Jota, though. Players across this Celtic squad have started the season off brilliantly and are fit & firing, looking to secure more trophy success.

From a supporter’s point of view, it is a very exciting time to be watching this team in full flow, and you can see that there is still even more to come as the season progresses.

In other news, Barrier remains tough for supporters as more ticket announcements made by Celtic.
