This is a huge week for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.
It starts with the trip to Croatia to take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, before Celtic’s League Cup final against Rangers at Hampden.
For large parts, the performances in Europe have been fairly strong by Celtic, including that display against RB Leipzig.
Snooker great John Higgins, who is a boyhood Celtic fan, shared that performance was probably the best he had seen the team play.
The common consensus was that, in Europe certainly, that was as good as it has been from the champions of Scotland because they were purring, especially in the second half.
But Higgins admitted that Rodgers has made him ‘eat humble pie’ since returning to Glasgow after having something ‘terrible’ to say.
Snooker legend John Higgins says he didn’t want Brendan Rodgers back at Celtic
Rodgers’ return to Celtic sparked a debate because many were divided about him coming back because of how he initially left.
The call to join Leicester City whilst the ten in a row was on didn’t sit well with supporters at all, so you can understand the frustration and anger.
But Higgins told the Let Me Be Frank Podcast that it has all changed now and Rodgers was even an ‘upgrade’ on Ange Postecoglou.

“That’s the best I have seen Celtic play nearly ever,’ said Higgins about the RB Leipzig performance. “They played amazing that night. Amazing.
“I have got to be honest, I didn’t want Rodgers back. It’s terrible to say it. Just with how he left and that ten in a row. And different things. But I have had to eat humble pie. The way he has got us back playing.
“Of course (Rodgers was an upgrade on Postecoglou). That’s the only reason (Celtic didn’t want Rodgers back because of what happened when he left). A lot of Celtic fans think if he would have stayed, we would have got the ten. I know Gerrard was coming. He does have Rangers’ number big time, doesn’t he?!”
Celtic’s record under Rodgers this season
After Celtic won the double upon Rodgers’ return, you sense the dust started to settle around those who previously didn’t want him back, especially after the win over Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.
But during this campaign, the champions have taken it up a level and are looking as good as they have ever been.
As posted by Footy Stats, Celtic’s 7-1 loss to Dortmund is the only time Rodgers has tasted defeat this season and if it continues this week, then another trophy will be coming to Parkhead.
