Three simple words from Neil Lennon this week have delighted some Celtic fans.

“Elyounoussi is back,” the manager told reporters this week, as quoted by The Herald.

That means he could be named in tonight’s match squad for the visit to Motherwell, whether in the starting eleven or on the substitute’s bench.

Elyounoussi hasn’t featured for the club at all since early December when he was rushed into the team to face Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final.

His fitness that day didn’t hold up and he’s been missing ever since.

The Norwegian international, who is on loan from Southampton for the season, was an important part of our early season form.

He managed to score seven goals and assist six times in just 13 appearances from the left-wing, adding a potent threat to our attack.

With Mikey Johnston now injured for a number of months and Scott Sinclair having left the club, he’s needed more than ever to give Lennon tactical flexibility.

While it seems unlikely he’ll be thrown right into tonight’s starting eleven, an appearance from the bench would be very welcome to help the player get back up to full match fitness.

With our match schedule not getting any lighter over the coming weeks, he could well be needed to add fresh ideas to Lennon’s team.

These fans are certainly excited about seeing him in action, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts over the last 24 hours…
