Some Celtic fans are not impressed at all with the Ibrox pitch just days before derby

Some Celtic fans are concerned about the state of the Ibrox pitch just days before Neil Lennon’s team are due to play on the surface.

Rangers are facing Bayer Leverkusen tonight in the Europa League last 16.

Manager Steven Gerrard had to apologise to the German side earlier this week after they were prevented from training at the stadium 24 hours prior to kick-off, as is normal UEFA protocol (The Daily Record).

Admitting his club’s pitch was below the standard required, Gerrard appeared quite embarrassed about it all and vowed it would change in the future.

Not great for Lennon’s Celtic team then, with just a couple days of recovery now available before our Sunday lunchtime kick-off in the Scottish Premiership.

The cut-up, muddy surface could be something of a leveller on the day and hamper our passing. Rangers will be far more used to how to play on it than us.

Nonetheless, Lennon and his team will be looking for a strong derby performance to help lay to rest the demons of December when we were far below our best.

With the Hoops on the brink of nine-in-a-row, we can pile even more pressure on the shoulders of Gerrard.

These fans have taken to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on the pitch prior to Celtic’s participation…
