Some Celtic fans have responded to Christopher Jullien’s tweet yesterday with plenty of love.

The big Frenchman finally got his revenge on Lyndon Dykes and Livingston with a 4-0 success at Parkhead. The contest was of perhaps more importance to Jullien than anyone else. After the loss to Livingston in October, he sent out a controversial tweet that claimed he was “nervous”.

However, there were no nerves this time from the big man. He bossed Dykes and co throughout the game, helping to restrict them to just one shot on target and two overall (BBC).

Jullien, back in October, said that the loss to Livingston was a wake-up call. In his tweet yesterday, he nodded to that phrase again as supporters showed their appreciation for the towering Frenchman.

Jullien sets the record straight against Dykes

It was difficult to ignore the Jullien-Dykes battle yesterday. It was the lowest moment of Jullien’s Hoops career when he struggled to deal with the Aussie forward at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

However, Jullien most certainly proved his point at Parkhead. He won every aerial duel against Dykes, and got tight to him whenever he tried to hold the ball up. Livingston just didn’t have any joy and Jullien made sure he wasn’t going to be embarrassed again.

It’s interesting to see the nature of the images the Frenchman posted here too. His first is a meaty challenge on Dykes where he clearly wins the ball. His third, meanwhile, is of him being right in amongst the battle against three Livi players. The final one, meanwhile, is him standing proud next to a celebratory Odsonne Edouard.

It probably provides Jullien with a bit of peace of mind. There’s no denying that he took stick for his performance back in October. He had something to prove against Dykes, and he did just that.

It sets him up quite nicely for the next 10 games between now and the winter break. He’ll be essential to the team, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he actually played in all of them.

The whole Dykes saga can now be put to bed for the big man. Not a bad way to start off a busy period of games for him.
