Celtic coach John Kennedy’s comments about Fraser Forster this week have provoked a response from some Hoops fans who are desperate to see the goalkeeper commit his future to the club this summer.

Forster has been in exceptional form on loan from Southampton this season, making huge penalty saves against Rangers and Copenhagen as well as producing big displays against Lazio.

He’s been every bit as good as his heroic first spell at the club, if not better, so it’s no surprise that many are keen on his loan deal becoming permanent come the end of the season.

Assistant boss Kennedy added fuel to the speculation earlier this week in an interview with The Sunday Post.

He said: “If there is a deal to be done, the club can produce something and a deal between Southampton and Fraser is possible, then I’m pretty sure we would try to do it.

“If Fraser became available we would want him. He has been terrific and made big saves at the big moments.

“Speaking to him in-house, it’s no secret he loves being here. He enjoys the atmosphere, loves the club and what the fans bring.”

Obviously there are financial considerations when thinking about any deal for Forster, but Kennedy has made it quite clear that from the coaching staff’s perspective he is a player that the club wants to keep a hold of.

It sounds as if the player is keen too, meaning the responsibility for making all this happen lies with the money men and decision-makers at Celtic Park.

These fans are certainly keen on seeing the shot-stopper extend his stay in Glasgow, taking to Twitter over the last couple of days to share their thoughts…
