Celtic winger Mohamed Elyounoussi has been named the Premiership Player of the Month for October.
The Norwegian was imperious during the month – netting four goals in five matches, including a brace against Ross County. The Southampton man also scored in our Europa League win over Cluj – his first for the club.
Speaking after the award, the 25-year-old remained humble and thanked his team-mates for their help.
“It’s a good achievement but as everyone knows, football’s a team sport so I have to thank my team-mates,” he said. (Celtic official website)
“I came up here to Celtic to create chances, score goals and help win games for the team and with the manager’s trust in me, I think I’ve done that.”
Fans make their feelings clear
Elyounoussi has certainly become a big player for Neil Lennon’s men. He only played his first game for the club in mid-September but it’s already hard to imagine a time when he wasn’t in our lives.
The Norwegian is only on a season-long loan deal but many fans want to see the move made permanent in the summer. In fact, that’s just what many of them instructed the club to do after his award was announced.

Celtic fans shouldn’t worry too much about Elyounoussi future
Talk over Elyounoussi’s future is going to dominate the rest of the season. If you think the chat bad in November then be sure to check back in April or May – it’ll be out of control at that stage.
The former Basel man doesn’t seem particularly fussed about where he’ll be next season, so neither should we be. What we should be fussed about is his current level of performance and how long he can maintain it for.
Elyounoussi is a wonderful player who really takes us to the next level both domestically and in Europe. The fact we get to enjoy seeing him in a Celtic shirt for the next six months should be enough for a minor celebration.
The real topic of conversation regarding this story should be why it’s taken the league until late November to name the award winner.
