Some Celtic fans enjoy Rangers defeat prior to Sunday's derby

Upcoming Celtic opponents Rangers have suffered a morale-ruining defeat just days before a huge derby at Ibrox.

Our city rivals, to their credit, managed to go one round further in the Europa League than Celtic, playing in the last 16 of the competition tonight.

However, they too now look to be on their way out of the competition after a 3-1 home defeat ahead of next week’s second leg in Germany.

Seeing Scottish teams do well in Europe is always welcome, but the rivalry being what it is, it’s natural that Hoops supporters would find a bit of joy in tonight’s proceedings.

It’s a result especially relevant given their morale could now again be on the slide.

The defeat means that Rangers have now lost three of their last four matches in all competitions and with the in-form Celtic visiting this weekend, Neil Lennon and his team have the perfect chance to pile on the misery.

The Ibrox side really now have incredibly little left to play for this season having already lost a League Cup final to us, exited the Scottish Cup and dropped miles behind in the Scottish Premiership.

A victory for the Hoops on Sunday would serve to really knock the wind out of their sails again and all but confirm our status as nine-in-a-row champions.

These supporters have taken to Twitter tonight to share their happiness with the way it panned out at Ibrox…
