Some Celtic fans have made the surprising recent discovery that they are blocked by former hero Virgil Van Dijk on Twitter.
Lots of Hoops supporters came to the realisation as they tried to congratulate the Dutchman following his inclusion in the 30 man nomination list for the Ballon D’Or award.

Celtic tweeted Van Dijk a personal congratulations on Tuesday and it wasn’t until then when supporters started clocking on to the bizarre fact.

One Celtic fan tried to shine a bit of light on the situation – claiming that the £75million man blocked numerous Hoops supporters when he departed for Southampton in 2015.
Van Dijk blocked a number of Celtic fans
Whatever the case, it seems a very bizarre situation for a lot of Celtic fans to find themselves in – especially when they claim never to have interacted with Van Dijk. The Dutchman didn’t really leave in acrimonious circumstances either. His departure was expected and taken pretty well by supporters – in contrast to recent moves for Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney.

The majority of the Celtic support still look out for Van Dijk’s results with Liverpool and cheer him on down south, but it does just go to show that there’s sometimes something else going on in the background.
Tuesday’s discovery is one of the more bizarre ones we’ve come across.
