Celtic have attracted critics this weekend over the club’s stance on future fixture scheduling, with Neil Lennon suggesting the club won’t be keen on helping out the Scotland national team.
Celtic are due to play St Johnstone immediately prior to a Scotland Euro 2020 play-off match against Israel at Hampden, with the Scottish FA looking for that round of Scottish Premiership fixtures to be postponed.
However, with Lennon’s side potentially making it deeper into the Europa League, that could throw the late-season into chaos down the line as we chase a ninth league title in a row.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the manager said: “Our opinion is it wouldn’t suit us. It wouldn’t be ideal for us, put it that way.”
Legends such as Kenny Dalglish have called on Celtic and other clubs to ‘do the right thing’ and help Steve Clarke’s outfit out as much as possible.
Players like James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor could all benefit from rest prior to Israel’s visit.
Celtic are due to play in seven consecutive mid-weeks after the return from our winter break so Lennon and his staff are spot on to prioritise the club, with so much on the line.

We can’t be looking out for other teams, even if it is Scotland.
Fans have been taking to social media over the weekend to discuss the issue, with this lot more than happy to back the club’s stance on it all…
