Neil Lennon’s Celtic have moved further clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a fantastic day of football.

The reigning champions are now 12 points ahead of Rangers after they could only draw at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone, with Celtic romping to a 3-1 victory at home to Kilmarnock.

Today’s match threatened to go badly for Lennon’s Bhoys, going behind early on after an Eamonn Brophy penalty.

However, goals from Kristoffer Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths secured the victory.

The manager was even able to take Edouard off early to preserve him for Thursday’s showdown against Copenhagen.

Griffiths was superb before being substituted off himself, to great applause. He linked up with his French striker partner expertly and took his big chance to put the game out of sight.

It’s his fifth goal in nine matches since returning to the team regularly following the winter break.

Following off the pitch problems and having to endure taunts from rival fans, his resurgence is one of the best stories at Celtic this season.

He’s now a crucial part of our trophy chase in the second half of the season and it’s all on merit.

It seems likely that he’ll have the chance to pair up with Edouard on Thursday in an attempt to push Celtic through to the last 16 of the Europa League.
