Some Celtic fans left fuming by update on Ryan Christie
Some Celtic supporters are not happy at all that attacking midfielder Ryan Christie has been cited by the Scottish FA for an incident involving Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
As reported by BBC Scotland, Christie faces a two-game ban for ‘attempting to grab’ Morelos’ genitals during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic have vowed to ‘vigorously’ defend the player, telling media outlets that the club is ‘absolutely astonished’ at this decision from the Hampden decision-makers.
Footage shows Christie failing to deal adequately with a dribbling Morelos, reaching out to try and hold him back. However, in my eyes, it’s not much more than a simple foul, which was given by referee Kevin Clancy.
It certainly doesn’t look to be in any way malicious.
Christie is already facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for a groin injury this week, so whether any ban actually impacts his selection is doubtful.
Ultimately, it may not have much consequence.
However, the SFA’s decision has still angered some supporters who think no consistency has been shown, citing a similar incident with Morelos grabbing Christie last season.
These supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all today…
After all that has gone on in the derby match.Ryan Christie gets cited. Nothing on Morelos, nothing on Kent. NL gets 5 games for an aeroplane. Our club is under siege from all angles, and yes before you all jump and say it , from our own support as well. The silence is deafening.

Morelos got off with the same thing in the same fixture at Ibrox last season. I’m expecting some consistency from the SFA….chance would be a fine thing right enough!

Actually astounding this was the least of anything on Sunday I haven’t even seen one rangers fan complain about this plus el buffalo did the exact same thing earlier on the season. Once they bring var up here our league will be as boring as the epl bloody sfa 😄

Morelos and Kent must get suspended for the rest of the season for inciting violence … correct

Would that be the same @ScottishFA that in the Ibrox Beaton game where Morelos launched a swinging kick from behind on Brown, Elbowed Christie in the face + Grabbed his Family Jewels & Stamped on young Ralston back. All the video evidence is there available but totally ignored
