Some Celtic fans left fuming by update on Ryan Christie

Some Celtic supporters are not happy at all that attacking midfielder Ryan Christie has been cited by the Scottish FA for an incident involving Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

As reported by BBC Scotland, Christie faces a two-game ban for ‘attempting to grab’ Morelos’ genitals during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic have vowed to ‘vigorously’ defend the player, telling media outlets that the club is ‘absolutely astonished’ at this decision from the Hampden decision-makers.

Footage shows Christie failing to deal adequately with a dribbling Morelos, reaching out to try and hold him back. However, in my eyes, it’s not much more than a simple foul, which was given by referee Kevin Clancy.

It certainly doesn’t look to be in any way malicious.

Christie is already facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for a groin injury this week, so whether any ban actually impacts his selection is doubtful.

Ultimately, it may not have much consequence.

However, the SFA’s decision has still angered some supporters who think no consistency has been shown, citing a similar incident with Morelos grabbing Christie last season.

These supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all today…
