Some Celtic fans missed Chris Sutton on Wednesday night

Events at Tynecastle on Wednesday night made pretty pleasant viewing for all those of a Celtic persuasion. The match may have been a testing one in the early stages but goals from Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham calmed things down as Neil Lennon’s men charged five points clear at the Premiership summit.

However, some television viewers were left a little disgruntled at a BT Sport tactical change. Hoops favourite Chris Sutton wasn’t around for the clash, for whatever reason, and he was instead replaced on co-comms by former Jambo Michael Stewart.

And after a pulsating 90 minutes, many supporters were left longing for Sutton. And they took to Twitter to tell everyone so.

The former prolific frontman then peered out from behind the couch with a humorous video of him enjoying some down time with the family. The Englishman didn’t comment on Celtic’s victory at all but that didn’t stop a few fans from enquiring where he had been while BT Sport’s coverage had been rumbling on.

BT Sport’s coverage did seem a little slanted towards the Edinburgh side on Wednesday evening, but perhaps that’s just because we’re used to having Sutton there. The retired forward always fights Celtic’s corner when he’s on coverage but he also says what he’s thinking – even if that is critical of the club.

The BT Sport cameras will take in one more Hoops game in 2019 – our Boxing Day clash away to St. Mirren. Hopefully Sutton is back and in the festive spirit for that one. He’s got a lot of making up to do.
