Some Celtic fans have reacted strongly to Brendan Rodgers’ comments about a potential move to Arsenal, after speculation he could be in line for the job.
The Mirror have reported that he has been the Gunners’ ‘number one target’ to replace Unai Emery at the Emirates, who left the club following dreadful form in the English Premier League.
In contrast, the former Celtic Park man is doing brilliantly at Leicester, with his stock reaching new highs after guiding the Foxes to second place in the table.
Asked bluntly to rule himself out of a switch to Arsenal, Rodgers instead decided to give a convoluted and complicated answer about his contract length and situation at Leicester (Sky Sports).
It’s all rather reminiscent of what he used to say about his happiness at Celtic.
As we know, he quickly put loyalty to the Bhoys aside when Leicster came calling February, dropping use like a stone as we hunted for a third successive treble.
Neil Lennon thankfully came in and steadied the ship, now improving it, but the whole affair remains a controversial topic amongst the Celtic support.
The feeling right now appears to be one of amusement towards Rodgers, who can hardly contain himself when talking about his situation and apparent suitors.
These supporters took to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on his most recent comments…

Same old Brendan. Could have simply said “no, I don’t want to go to Arsenal” and that would’ve ended speculation.

“The Leicester fans are angry, but I think reality will set in and I hope the work we did will be appreciated.
Arsenal have a great history, it wouldn’t have waited until the summer”
