Remember those strange days from not so long ago when we were inundated with articles comparing Odsonne Edouard to Alfredo Morelos?
Despite the undoubted gulf in class between the Celtic forward and the Ibrox hothead, we were told they were of a similar ilk.
But as Neil Lennon’s men have put the Gers firmly in their place in the league, so has Edouard with Morelos.

To the extent that the comparison the Colombian is now facing is with Leigh Griffiths.
It’s not really a fair comparison either. Griffiths has eight league goals in 2018 thus far, while Morelos has only struck once in the same timeframe.
And that fact hasn’t been lost on some Celtic fans who took to Twitter to poke fun at the Gers forward after Griffiths’ brilliant exploits against St. Mirren yesterday.

Griffiths has a better CV than Morelos
People continue to underestimate the abilities of Leigh Griffiths.
At his best, he is just as good, if not better, than the Ibrox forward who has been the by far the most talked about player in Scotland this season.

People forget that Griffiths has scored huge goals in the Champions League, Europa League, at international level and domestically – while Morelos has only managed two of those thus far.
A fully firing Griffiths comes with a guarantee for goals and we’re starting to see that again at Celtic.
Here’s hoping he’s saved a few more for next Sunday at Ibrox when he can aim to outshine Morelos again.
