The performance of Christopher Jullien vs St Johnstone was that of a leader and a top-class player, with supporters singing his praises for it.

Celtic progressed to the Scottish Cup semi-finals this afternoon after a fine win against Tommy Wright’s Saints. Initially, it looked as though Jullien had nabbed the winner in the 1-0 victory when he appeared to get a touch on Ryan Christie’s free-kick. In the end, however, it was proven there was no touch.

But that didn’t take anything away from a stunning performance from him. He spread the ball about tremendously well with a flurry of accurate passes out from the back. More importantly, however, he was there when it counted to continuously halt Stevie May from running in on goal.

His display today was massive, and supporters have been quick to give him the appropriate levels of praise on social media:

A leader, an organiser, and a goal-threat

If you’re looking for leaders without an armband, Jullien has to be at the top of your list.

Once again this afternoon, he was marshaling the defence and constantly pointing to his team-mates as he commanded things at the back. You can also see the trust both Nir Bitton and Kristoffer Ajer have in him too.

It’s a shame he wasn’t credited with the goal. It initially looked as though he got the smallest of touches, but even then he did enough to cause confusion in Zander Clark’s head. Jullien’s class really is showing this season, and is already looking like our best signing of the campaign.

Jullien also wasn’t one of the players you could’ve criticised for Thursday night. He had Dame N’Doye well covered up until the game was stretched. His performances haven’t dipped at Parkhead in a long time, and he’s consistently proving himself to be a real goal threat.

When the game got a tad frantic this afternoon, Jullien was always a composed head. With St Johnstone’s fans getting rowdy as their side looked to put some second-half pressure on, the big Frenchman made some timely blocks to take the sting out of their spell.

It was another top display to add to the collection. Even at this early stage of the run-in, he looks like being a key reason as to why we’ll likely win nine-in-a-row and a potential quadruple-treble.
