Celtic didn’t make any signings on transfer deadline day. The Hoops did try to make signings, but none came to pass.
Sky Sports (Live blog 31/01 16:42) reported that the Hoops had approached Newcastle United about signing winger Christian Atsu, but Sky Sports (Live blog 31/01 17:46) reported that the player rejected the move in order to fight for his Newcastle first-team spot.
Therefore, the window closed with Celtic having signed only two players, Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro.
Some Celtic fans were quick to offer up their opinion of the transfer window on social media not long after the window slammed shut at midnight.
“Nowhere near good enough”
One fan claimed that the window was ‘nowhere near good enough’. Another used the word ‘poor’.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Celtic’s lack of deadline day business:
nothing more frustrating than being a Celtic fan on transfer deadline day.

Celtic haven’t had a decent deadline day since we signed Robbie Keane 10 years ago…

Not a great window for Celtic. Had the chance to make a statement and get some quality in, instead left us short with not signing a CB and winger.

Worst transfer window I can remember. Thanks, Celtic. 👍

Only time will tell if Celtic will regret not making more additions to the team. The fact that the club approached Atsu seems to indicate that Neil Lennon was looking for a winger.
However, as the player rejected the move, the Hoops will need to be satisfied with trying to win the league with the squad that is currently at the club.
Current squad is good enough to get title won
That team is more than good enough to get the league won. However, judging by the comments from some Celtic fans above, there is disappointment that the Hoops were not able to add to their squad in the battle for nine in a row.
It will be up to the Celtic players who have experience in winning trophies over the past eight years to see the Hoops over the line.
