Some Celtic fans react to Christopher Jullien performance vs Copenhagen
When Celtic signed Christopher Jullien in the summer from Toulouse for a fee of £7 million, it could have been a gamble.
After all, it was the second highest fee that the club have ever paid for a player. However, Jullien’s performances for the Hoops in his first season with the club have shown that the money has been well spent.
You only need to look at his first Glasgow derby, for example. He was dominant in defence as Celtic won 2-0 at Ibrox.
Excelled in Europe
In Europe, he has also excelled. His performances in the Europa League group stages helped the Hoops reach the last 32 of the competition, and his good form in the tournament has continued in the knockout phase.
In the 1-1 draw with Copenhagen on Thursday night Jullien was a colossus. He picked up a head injury in the first-half, but that didn’t stop him from winning almost every battle he faced as a defender.
His aerial ability in particular was key, as Copenhagen dominated the second-half at times, and as the Hoops defence buckled at times Jullien was on hand to make sure that it did not fall apart.
Should be very pleased with performance
He can be very pleased with his performance, and should Celtic defeat Copenhagen and reach the last 16 of the tournament Jullien will have played a key role in that.
The player’s fine display was picked up on by some Celtic supporters on social media. One fan proclaimed Jullien’s performance as ‘unbelievable’. Another called him Celtic’s best defender since Virgil Van Dijk, which is high praise indeed.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to Jullien’s performance:
Back to our game earlier Jullien was quality again for us. Our best defender since Van Dijk?

should’ve been out of sight tonight with the amount of chances we had. too many players under performed, but away goal & look to next week. Forster saved us again – need to get the big man signed on a permanent. Jullien superb at times too.

Would have took 1-1 tonight before a ball was kicked but looking back at the game we should have been out of site at one point. Confident we’ll get passed them next week. Big Jullien was unbelievable tonight as well 👏🏻💪🏻🍀 #Celtic

I’m just saying, that was a good result, under the circumstances. Unlucky not to score more than one, but defensively solid when it mattered. Jullien, man. Wit a pler.

Edouard won’t be the only frenchman in our great club to attract interest come the summer. Jullien at 7M is an excellent piece of business from lenny. Hopefully both to stay to 10iar.
