Some Celtic supporters have been reacting to the club’s unfortunately timed season-ticket renewal tweet.

There remains plenty of uncertainty surrounding football around the entire planet after the recent global health crisis that has swept the world. Scottish football hasn’t avoided its grasp either, with football here stopped until further notice.

Nobody knows what it means for the season. It could mean that the campaign is complete over the summer time or indeed not at all. With that uncertainty comes further confusion over what will happen with the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, the crisis and confusion comes only days after Celtic launched their season-ticket renewal campaign last week. Supporters have been reacting to their most recent post regarding renewals too, which came only one day after football in Scotland was postponed. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to the poorly-timed tweet:

A sticky situation for Celtic

This is a real tough one for Celtic. As things stand, they’ll feel that they have to continue planning as though the season will start in August and get everything in order for then.

However, at the same time, there are plenty of Celtic supporters who could be about to come into some financial hardship. For those supporters, it would perhaps be wise for the club to extend the deadline for season-ticket renewals so that they get a fair crack at securing their ticket once again.

As for the tweet itself, it was probably just unfortunately scheduled ahead of time. Twitter can allow pages to schedule tweets for certain times. Given the fact the season-ticket renewal campaign had already well started, this was probably a tweet scheduled well in advance and simply an oversight from the club.

There likely wasn’t any selfish intent in it, and was probably scheduled before the football was even canceled.

But Celtic have a real decision to make regarding the campaign. In fairness, extending the deadline would perhaps be the best solution with a view to the season tickets simply kicking in whenever we have the chance to start next season.

However, at the moment, with so many facing financial uncertainty, common sense must prevail.

What should Celtic do with their season-ticket renewal plans? Should the date for renewals be extended or should the campaign be scrapped altogether for now? Let us know your thoughts via our discussion forum below.
