Read MoreSome Celtic fans react to Kevin Clancy derby appointment
The appointment of Kevin Clancy as referee for Sunday’s Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park doesn’t seem to have gone down too well with the Hoops faithful.
Clancy was named as the man in the middle for the crucial fixture earlier on Monday. He will be assisted by David McGeachie and Dougie Potter while Nick Walsh will be the fourth official.

Clancy caused controversy earlier this season when he denied us what looked like two stonewall penalties in a 1-1 draw at Hibernian. He has hardly been the flavour of the month with the Celtic support since then, and it was therefore no surprise to see many vent their frustration on Twitter following the announcement of his appointment.
Clancy in the Glasgow Derby he owes us at least 2 pens 🍀🤬

Unpopular opinion:
I'd rather have Bobby Madden than Kevin Clancy. Hopefully we could find our scoring boots and put this beyond doubt. #CelticFC

Clancy appointment shouldn’t change too much at Celtic Park
So Clancy’s appointment hasn’t exactly gone down well with the Hoops support. But it’s worth noting that not many referees have a positive image at present, and the likes of Willie Collum and John Beaton would undoubtedly have brought around a more vociferous reaction.

Like a few fans pointed out above, the referee shouldn’t matter if we turn up and play our game. We are a better team than our rivals as has been shown in the results of the previous derbies this season.
If we play to our top level it would take an almighty effort from either Rangers or the officials to change the result. That’s the way we’ve got to look at it.
