Not many footballers get to match their age with the number on the back of their shirts.
But that’s exactly what Odsonne Edouard can now do after the Celtic forward turned 22-years-old today.
Given his goalscoring prowess, you tend to forget that the Frenchman is so young. But many Hoops fans were updated of his new age as the club took to Twitter on Thursday to wish him a “Happy Birthday.”

And, along with all the usual pleasantries, there was a common theme that some fans wanted to see the forward rewarded with another big 22.

Could Edouard sign a new deal soon?
Edouard’s Celtic contract still has another two and a half years to run (transfermarkt.co.uk) so he’s got plenty of time still to enjoy in the Hoops.
Of course, there is a feeling that he will move on in the summer, given the way he is perceived around Europe following some terrific performances and goals.

We’ll be going for a historical tenth title in-a-row – something that has never been done before. Edouard’s career prospects may be important but surely he’d want to stay for one last shot at that.

If that’s the case, he would probably have to sign a one or two year extension in the summer. But surely that’s not completely inconceivable.
Edouard could leave a club legend if he stayed the extra time, and he’d still only be 23 at that stage – with the rest of his career ahead of him.
That’s what the supporters hope happens, but the reality could be very different indeed.
