Some Celtic supporters have been biting back at Rangers’ statement from Monday.
The Ibrox club’s managing director Stewart Robertson laughably took to Facebook to go on about sporting integrity, as they stated that nothing should be awarded to clubs before 38 games have been played.
However, in addition to that, Robertson said in the statement that the Ibrox side doesn’t want to play games behind closed doors. They shamefully tried to use their supporters and their loyalty as the main reason for it.
As you would imagine, some Hoops fans have been laughing their heads off at the gall of it all. Here’s a look at some of the reaction from our support:
Im away into quarantine. Rangers have issued a statement about sporting integrity. Games over.

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous, Boris not closing pubs but asking people not to go to them or Rangers statement reminding everyone about sporting integrity #irony

That Rangers* statement.Celtic can't be awarded the title until all fixtures are completed and games can't be behind closed doors.Dunno about anyone else but that tells me somebody is in serious financial trouble. And it's not the club with 40m cash in the bank.

That Rangers statement 😂

That in itself is a stupid statement. CeltIc could be champions long before completion of 38. As CQN says, shameless exploitation of corona to cover their abject failure! They will be bankrupt soon in any case and good riddance to them! Oh how we will laugh at Rangers the third!

@ClydeSSB rangers issuing a statement was for only one reason!! Looking after themselves as if they would do the same in Celtic’s position 🤔total nonsense and pandering to the bigots 🤷♂️🍀

It's a sin for them really,, they could have manned up, just admitted Gerrard blew it big time, and said we will stand by the decision the authorities make,,,, but no, statement FC had to stamp its feet yet again, you'd think they would be grateful the SFA SPFL let them in div3

Rangers saying they firmly believe the season is only complete when all 38 games are played which is a fair point. Then go on to say they don’t want to play games behind closed doors.
In other words – please void the season so we can try again next year.

First proper laugh at the day as I read Rangers' statement lecturing others on sporting integrity.

Rangers show a strong lack of appetite here
You can see why Rangers would be against handing out awards before 38 games of football have been played. It makes sense for clubs like themselves who are struggling to take this stance, and there’s some validity in it.
However, what makes this statement so embarrassing is the lack of appetite they have to finish the season. They flat out refuse to entertain the notion of games being played behind closed doors. Therefore, how would Rangers like it to be done?
They say that they won’t forget the loyalty of their supporters. Aye okay Rangers. What you really mean is that the cost of hosting matches at Ibrox will cost you financially and, since the league is next to over, it would also cost you another league title.
It’s a shameless act of putting pressure on the governing bodies to void the season. No doubt if the SFA/SPFL were to announce that games resumed in the near future, Rangers would be one of the first clubs trying to halt it.
Credit to them. It’s clever and their supporters will lap this kind of drivel up. But it’s not as if you expected them not to take a staunch stance on the matter.
All this has done, however, is make sure that winning the nine is even more sweeter when it comes around.
